Overview

PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT (PI) intake manifold swap kit. This is the current production plastic intake manifold used on all 2001 - 2010 PI engines with the aluminum coolant cross over passage directly from FRPP. Everything you need to install a PI intake on your 4.6 SOHC engine.

The most complete PI intake manifold swap kit on the market.

Manifold required when installing PI head swap onto a Non-PI engine. Those of you looking at swapping to a set of PI heads and need the correct induction parts to complete your swap without chasing after part numbers will find this a complete kit with no surprises.

These are all new genuine Ford parts, no take offs or refurbished parts. The intake is not a cheap Dorman or another manufactures attempted copy.

This kit can be used to install the PI manifold onto a Non-PI engine and heads when installed properly without modifications to the intake or Non-PI heads. Special install required

  • Notes:

  • Some vehicles require 2 coolant temperature sensors. This manifold is only pre-drilled for one. Check your application before ordering. Sensors are located only on the front coolant cross-over of your manifold. 1 will be on the right (Pass Side) and the second if installed will be on the left (Driver Side). If you need the manifold drilled for 2 sensors we can drill and tap the second hole for you.
  • Thermostat housings differ slightly between the plastic factory Non-PI and PI intakes verses the factory upgrade (Recall) that have the aluminum coolant cross over. The factory intakes with the plastic coolant cross over use thermostat housing with larger bolt holes to allow it to fit over the threaded brass dowel inserts. The Non PI housings also point towards the pass. side away from the coil pack while the PI housing points directly towards the coil pack and may interfer with hose routing. Vehicles with coil on plug (COP) do not have the interference problem. Your stock Non-PI Tstat housing will fit the PI intake.

    I wanted to thank you and your team for providing the PI intake kit for my '98 Mustang. Installation was made easier because of the thoroughness of the kit and your customized instructions. Honestly, I was just expecting to replace my old, leaking intake but this PI intake has definitely given my bone stock 2V a shot in the arm. I wish I had dyno numbers when it was stock because this car feels stronger with your intake kit sitting on top of it. Off-idle response, low level cruising and WOT are all stronger; unlike before this car pulls all they way through the 'tach and this is WITHOUT tuning. Again, thanks for your time and efforts. When I'm ready for the matching heads and cams for your PI intake I'll let you know.

    I didnt think there would be that much difference and didnt believe the stuff on the Mustang forums. Actually some said I would only gain 10 - 15 hp with this swap. MY BAD They were wrong I gained much more. Everything you needed as for parts included in this kit
